Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. When her father's departure from the family, she was raised up by her mother, grandparents, and godparents. When she was a young girl, she battled an obsessive-compulsive disorder that caused anxiety due to word associations. Ford was interested in the acting profession during her teenage years and she joined National Youth Theatre. She was accepted into Sylvia Young Theatre School but after a week, she decided that she was not a fit. Ford applied again for admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama and, on her fourth attempt, she was finally admitted. Her classmate was Shaun Dingwall, who would later have a recurring role as Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford's debut on TV was an episode in 1991 called Surgical Spirit. By the time she graduated, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". Tate began her TV debut in the year 1991, appearing on shows like The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. and London's Burning. Also, she was a regular performer in the theatre, eventually becoming a member of with the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. However, Tate soon began to garner notice for her stand-up comedy that she incorporated into her resume in the year 1996.
